Privacy policy.

Your plans are personal. Here is what Coach stores, where it stays, and how you control it.

1. Who is responsible

Coach is operated by Yin-Ti Yip. The operator is the controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the processing this policy describes, and is called “we” below.

Country
Belgium
Email
mail.yiplabs@gmail.com

For privacy questions and requests, email mail.yiplabs@gmail.com. This address is also our single point of contact for users and authorities. You can write in English or Dutch.

2. The short version

  • No account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
  • Your plan, notes and coach conversations stay on your devices, and in your own iCloud if you turn on sync. We never receive them.
  • The iPhone coach runs on your iPhone. Nothing you say to it leaves the device.
  • The only personal data we handle is your subscription status (through RevenueCat, under a random ID), the website’s server logs (through Vercel), and any email you send us.

3. Coach for iPhone

Coach for iPhone has no account and no Coach server. It shows no ads, contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and does not track you across apps or websites. It does not access your location, contacts, photos or health data. What Coach stores on your iPhone stays under your control: we cannot see or reach it.

Calendars are optional and read-only. If you turn on “Show my calendars”, Coach reads the events of the calendars you choose on this iPhone and shows them as meetings, so your plan fits around them. Events are never saved in your plan, synced or given to the coach, and Coach never changes them. You can turn this off in Coach’s Settings or in iPhone Settings at any time.

Your plan stays on your iPhone. Tasks, durations, days and start times, your weekly outcome, working hours, check-in settings and the notes you log during focus are saved in the app’s private storage on this iPhone. Coach also keeps the previous version of your plan there, a copy of your plan as each day began for the last 14 days (and the newest 5 plans a restore replaced) so you can go back to an earlier version, and, if a saved plan cannot be read, a recovery copy. The focus session in progress is saved on the device so it survives closing the app. To draw its widgets, Coach keeps a copy of your plan in storage on the device that only Coach and its widgets can read.

Optional sync with your Mac. Sync is off until you turn it on. Then your plan is stored in your own iCloud Drive and synchronized by Apple under your Apple Account and Apple’s privacy policy. Coach has no server of its own, and your plan is not sent to us.

The coach runs on your iPhone. On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, the coach uses the language model built into the device. Your messages, and the parts of your plan the coach reads, are processed on your iPhone and never leave it. They are not sent to us, to Apple or to any other AI provider. On other iPhones the coach is unavailable, and nothing is sent to a cloud service instead. When you tap Remember this under a reply, Coach keeps a short note (at most 20) on this iPhone, outside your plan and backups; Settings lists them and lets you forget one or all.

When a message sounds like a crisis. Coach checks each message on your iPhone first. If it sounds like a crisis, Coach shows fixed help lines instead of an AI reply, chosen from your iPhone’s Region setting (for example 113 in the Netherlands, 1813 in Belgium, 988 in the United States, and 112 or 911 in an emergency). This check happens on the device and nothing about it is sent anywhere.

Notifications, widgets and the Lock Screen. Check-in and end-of-block notifications are scheduled on your iPhone itself; Coach uses no push notification service. They ask a general question, such as “What are you working on right now?”, and do not contain your notes. A reply you type into a notification is saved as a focus note in your plan. While a focus block runs, a Live Activity shows the task title and timer on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and widgets you add can show your next task and your day. Anyone who can see your screen can read them. You can turn off notifications and Live Activities for Coach in iPhone Settings and remove widgets at any time. If you use Siri or Shortcuts with Coach, Apple handles your voice request under its own privacy policy.

Purchases. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple, and we never see your payment details. To deliver your subscription, RevenueCat processes your App Store purchase and subscription status for us, as our processor, under a random ID it creates, with no account behind it. Coach sets no name, email, attributes or advertising identifiers in RevenueCat, and RevenueCat never receives your plan. Section 5 lists exactly what it receives.

Backups and sharing. In Settings, Export a backup creates a file with your whole plan, including focus notes, in the same format as Coach on the Mac. It goes wherever you save or share it and is not encrypted by Coach. Restore from a backup reads a file you choose and replaces the plan on this iPhone. Share your week creates a short text summary that goes only where you send it.

What Apple may share. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in iPhone Settings, Apple may give us crash reports and usage statistics under Apple’s own terms. Apart from the purchase and subscription status RevenueCat processes, Coach collects no data, which is why its App Store privacy label lists only Purchase History, not linked to you and not used for tracking.

4. What we process, why, and on what legal basis

  • Subscription status (through RevenueCat): to unlock Coach, keep the free trial and renewals working, and restore a purchase on a new iPhone. Legal basis: performing our contract with you (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). We also look at totals of this same data, such as how many trials become subscriptions, to run the business. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding our sales (Article 6(1)(f)); you can object.
  • Website request data (through Vercel): to deliver the pages and keep the website secure. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a working, secure website (Article 6(1)(f)).
  • Emails you send us: to answer you and fix what you report. Legal basis: our contract with you where your question is about the app or your subscription, and otherwise our legitimate interest in answering the people who write to us (Article 6(1)(b) and (f)). We don’t use them for marketing or share them with anyone except the email service that delivers them. If you email us to join the Mac beta or to hear when Coach launches, we use your address only for that and delete it when it’s no longer needed.
  • Everything on your devices (your plan, notes, calendars, coach conversations): processed by the app on your devices for you. We never receive it. Calendar and notification access rely on the permission you give in iOS, which you can withdraw in iPhone Settings at any time.

You don’t have to give us any personal data to use Coach, beyond what Apple and RevenueCat need to deliver a subscription you buy.

5. Who receives data

We don’t sell personal data or share it with advertisers. These are the only recipients:

  • Apple. An independent controller, under its own privacy policy. Apple sells and bills the subscription (in the EU through Apple Distribution International Ltd., Ireland), runs iCloud sync, Siri and Apple Intelligence, and delivers the app. It receives what Apple needs to sell, bill and deliver the app and to run the Apple services you choose to use. Coach’s developer never sees your payment details. Where it is processed: Apple’s services, including outside the EU, under the safeguards in Apple’s privacy policy. See Apple’s privacy policy.
  • RevenueCat, Inc. Our processor. It handles subscription status only on our instructions, under a data processing agreement that gives your data the same protection this policy promises, and it may not use it for its own purposes. It receives your App Store receipt and subscription details (product, dates, trial, renewal and refund status, transaction IDs), a random app user ID it creates, and technical data every connection carries: IP address, device type, iOS and app version, language and App Store country. Never your name, email, plan or messages. Where it is processed: the United States, under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in its data processing agreement. See RevenueCat’s data processing agreement and privacy policy.
  • Vercel Inc. Our processor for this website, under its data processing agreement. It receives technical request data in its server logs: IP address, browser type, the page asked for and the time. Where it is processed: the United States and Vercel’s network. Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and its data processing agreement adds the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. See Vercel’s data processing agreement and privacy notice.

Every processor we use is bound by a data processing agreement to protect your data at least as well as this policy does, to use it only on our instructions, and to help us honour your rights. We only change processors after updating this policy.

6. Transfers outside the EU

RevenueCat and Vercel are based in the United States. RevenueCat’s transfers are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in its data processing agreement. Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and its data processing agreement adds the Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.

7. How long data is kept

  • On your devices and in your iCloud: until you delete it. We have no copy.
  • Subscription records at RevenueCat: while Coach uses RevenueCat, so renewals, refunds and restores keep working. We delete a record when you ask (section 8), and RevenueCat deletes our data when we stop using it, under its data processing agreement. Apple keeps its own purchase records under its own policy.
  • Website server logs at Vercel: kept only briefly for delivery and security, then deleted automatically.
  • Support emails: until your question is resolved, and deleted no later than 12 months after our last exchange, unless we need them longer to handle a legal claim.

8. Your rights, without an account

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict its processing, to receive it in a portable format, to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to withdraw any consent at any time without affecting what happened before. To use them, email mail.yiplabs@gmail.com. We answer within one month.

Data on your devices. You control it directly: export it with Export a backup (a portable JSON file), correct it in the app, and erase it by deleting the Coach app. Deleting the app removes the plan, settings, notes and widget copy on the iPhone. Exported files and any copy in your iCloud Drive are not removed with the app; delete them separately. We have no remote copy, so a deleted plan can’t be recovered unless you kept a backup.

Your subscription record. Because RevenueCat uses a random ID and we hold no name or email, we can only find your record if you tell us which purchase it is. Send us the order ID from Apple’s receipt email (also shown at reportaproblem.apple.com), and we will give you a copy of the record or delete it. Deleting it doesn’t cancel your subscription: cancel it with Apple first if you want to stop paying. To withdraw from the sharing of analytics with developers, turn it off in iPhone Settings under Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements.

Data Apple holds. For your Apple Account, purchases and iCloud, use Apple’s own privacy controls at apple.com/legal/privacy.

9. Complaints

You have the right to complain to a data-protection authority. The authority for the operator is the Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données (the Belgian Data Protection Authority). You can also complain to the data-protection authority in the EU country where you live or work, or where you think the problem happened. Its website is https://www.gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be. The European Data Protection Board’s list shows the authority for every EU country. We’d be glad to hear from you first, so we can try to put it right.

10. Automated decisions

Coach makes no decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects, and does no profiling. The suggestions the coach makes and the crisis check run on your device, only for you, and you decide what to do with them.

11. Children

Coach is made for adults planning their work. Its App Store age rating describes its content, but it isn’t directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly process children’s personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. This website and cookies

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., United States. The marketing website has no account, sets no cookies, writes nothing to your browser’s storage and uses no analytics or advertising tools, so it doesn’t ask for cookie consent. Its fonts are served from the website itself, not from a third party. To deliver its pages and keep them secure, the hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address, your browser type and the page you asked for in its server logs. We do not use this data to identify or follow you. The only thing the page reads from your browser is a light or dark appearance setting, and only if Coach’s own workspace saved one on the same address.

Coach in your browser

The free workspace at /web saves your plan, tasks, reflections, focus session and preferences in this browser on this device. Guided coaching runs on this device; there is no connected AI service in the browser version. Calendar files and restored backups are read locally. Your plan is not uploaded and does not automatically sync to other devices.

After your first online visit, a service worker keeps a copy of the app and its fonts and scripts for offline use. This cache contains the app, not your plan or API responses. Installation uses your browser’s own controls and is optional. Browser storage is not application-encrypted. Clearing site data or uninstalling may erase your plan; export a JSON backup from Settings first. A downloaded backup stays wherever you save it until you delete it yourself.

13. Coach on the Mac and in your browser

The Mac app and the browser workspace are in private testing. This section describes what they store.

Information in your workspace

Coach stores task titles, estimated durations, completion status, the day each task was added and the focus time spent on it, your weekly outcome, reflections, short notes you log during focus sessions (they are never sent to AI coaching), working-hour preferences (including weekday hours, days off, breaks and date exceptions), the most recent planning change so it can be undone the same day, and coaching preferences in this browser and automatically in a local file on this computer. The browser also keeps a short fingerprint of unsaved changes and the computer save they build on, so they can be resumed safely. This allows you to return to your plan. There is no account.

Messages are held temporarily in page memory and are not restored after a reload. Avoid entering sensitive information you do not need for planning.

Storage and cookies

Coach uses browser local storage for the plan and preferences you save. If an existing saved plan cannot be read, its original contents may be kept as a recovery copy so you can download them. This storage is used for workspace functionality, not advertising or tracking. Coach sets no advertising or analytics cookies.

Browser storage is not encrypted by Coach. Someone with access to the same browser profile may be able to read it. Clearing browser storage, switching browsers or using private browsing can remove or separate your plan.

When you choose Save recovery copy, the local server writes a dated copy of your plan to this computer’s .coach/recovery folder in your home directory. This includes tasks, outcome, reflections and preferences, but not chat messages or the active timer. Copies are not uploaded or encrypted by Coach. Up to 50 copies are retained until you remove them from that folder. Clearing your browser plan does not delete these copies.

Automatic saves live in .coach/workspace in your home directory. The current and previous version are kept without an automatic expiry. The website and desktop app on this computer share this store. When versions conflict, you choose which plan to continue. These files are not encrypted by Coach and remain accessible to your computer account. Coach also keeps your plan as each day began in .coach/snapshots in your home directory for the last 14 days, so you can go back to an earlier version in settings. Before a restore, the plan it replaces is kept there too (the newest 5). These copies stay on this computer and are not encrypted by Coach. Clearing your plan saves an empty working plan; previous versions, daily copies, recovery copies and other browser profiles are not erased. Remove retained files from the local folders separately if you want to erase them, after closing Coach and exporting anything you need.

Calendar files are read in the page on this device. Only selected event titles, dates, times and durations become tasks after your confirmation. Descriptions, attendees, links and alarms are not imported. Calendar exports contain the titles and times of unfinished scheduled tasks in the selected date range. You decide whether to import those files into a third-party calendar; Coach does not connect to a calendar account. Appearance preferences are stored separately in this browser profile.

Sharing and service providers

With live coaching disabled, tasks and messages stay on this computer. No analytics service or remote database is connected. Fonts are served with the app. No payment, email or background notification provider is connected. Google Calendar is contacted only when you submit its iCal link and explicitly allow loading it.

The local server receives ordinary technical requests needed to display the workspace. It runs on this device. If the Mac app ever adds hosting, accounts or cloud AI services, this policy will say what they process, who receives it and for how long before those features collect any data.

Optional Google Calendar loading

Your private iCal link passes through the local server to Google to read your calendar. It is held in memory while this dialog is open and is not written to your plan or app logs. Closing the dialog clears the link and unsaved preview; Google can still observe the calendar request and your network address. Selected events become ordinary saved tasks. The app does not write changes back to Google or continuously synchronize events. Treat the link as a secret and reset it in Google if it is exposed.

Optional live coaching and saved focus

AI coaching is off until you turn it on. Coach remembers that choice on this Mac until you switch it off in settings. On-device mode sends your message, weekly outcome, selected task and up to eight recent messages to Ollama on this computer. It does not send them to a cloud AI provider. If you separately enable Include today’s plan, requests also include up to 12 unfinished task titles, estimates and scheduled times, today’s unfinished task count and total estimated minutes, and a few facts Coach works out on this Mac: when your work ends today, how much work time is left, and how much planned work no longer fits. Once you have finished enough focus blocks, they also include how your focus time usually compares with your estimates. If you use Build, Sell and Admin lanes or a weekly number, they also include this week's minutes per lane and your one number. Imported calendar titles can be included. Daily reflections and parked ideas are excluded. The app does not persist chat; your separately installed Ollama runtime has its own configuration. If an OpenAI connection is explicitly configured instead, with an API key set up on your own Mac, settings identifies OpenAI before you enable sharing. Those requests use API response storage disabled; provider retention rules may still apply. If Claude Code is installed and signed in on this Mac, settings shows Claude · your subscription instead; when you enable it, your message, weekly outcome, selected task, up to eight recent messages and, if included, today’s plan are sent to Anthropic through your own Claude Code sign-in, under your Claude account’s terms and privacy settings, with Claude Code’s tools, connectors and saved sessions turned off, and nothing is sent while AI coaching is off. Disabling coaching stops new requests but cannot undo processing already started. Before the Mac app is released publicly, this section will be checked against each provider’s current terms.

Who is responsible for AI requests. Ollama runs on your own computer. OpenAI and Anthropic are reached only through a key or sign-in you set up yourself, so they process those requests as your providers, under your agreement with them (for Anthropic, see Anthropic’s privacy policy). They are not Coach’s processors, and Coach’s developer receives none of it.

Notes your coach remembers. When you tap Remember this under a coach reply, Coach saves a short note from it (one sentence, at most 140 characters, and no more than 20 notes) in this browser on this Mac. The notes are not part of your plan or its backups. Settings lists them under What your coach remembers, where Forget removes one and Forget all notes removes them all. Coach never saves a note from a reply that touches a crisis, distress or health. Notes are sent only while Share my notes with Claude is on, and only to Claude: with each message, up to three of them, the ones closest to what you asked, go to Anthropic through your own Claude account. The local model and other AI providers never receive them.

When a message sounds like a crisis. Coach checks each message on this Mac before any AI model sees it. If a message looks like a crisis, Coach shows fixed help lines instead of coaching; if it is unclear, Coach asks one caring question. Either way, that message is not sent to any AI model, then or later.

Focus task identifiers, remaining time and deadlines are stored in this browser so an active or paused session can be restored. Daily reflections and task schedule and completion dates are saved with your plan and included in exports.

Retention, export and deletion

Optional completion sounds are generated on this device. The sound preference is saved in this browser. Task review links contain task titles, dates, times and durations in the URL fragment. Anyone you give the link to can read that content. The app removes the fragment after reading it and requires review before adding tasks; do not share links containing private plans. These links currently work only with the local app running on the same computer.

Your saved plan stays in this browser until you replace or clear it, clear browser data, or the browser removes it. There is no automatic retention deadline. In Coaching settings, you can export a JSON copy, restore a valid backup, or clear your plan and any recovery copy. Clearing also ends the active focus session and clears current messages.

Exported files remain wherever you save them. Deleting the workspace does not delete your downloaded copies. Importing reads the chosen file on your device and replaces your plan only after you confirm.

14. Changes to this policy

This version took effect on 16 October 2026. We will update this page when Coach’s data practices change and show the new date at the top. New uses of data will be explained here, and in the app where it matters, before the related feature is enabled, with consent asked where the law requires it.
